Eric Wintemute
Chairman & CEO
Eric Wintemute was elected as President of AMVAC and Chief Executive Officer of American Vanguard Corporation in mid-1994. Mr. Wintemute had joined the company in January 1994 as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors following American Vanguard's acquisition of GemChem Inc., a national and international chemical distribution company he co-founded in 1991. From 1977 to 1982, he worked for AMVAC in a variety of sales, purchasing, and production control capacities. Previously, as Vice President and Director of R.W. Greeff & Co. from 1982 to 1991, Mr. Wintemute oversaw the national and international distribution of key AMVAC chemical products. Mr. Wintemute holds a Bachelors of Science in Economics from the University of California, San Diego.
Bob Trogele, PhD
Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President
Ulrich (Bob) Trogele joined AMVAC in January 2015 to focus on growing the business across multiple product lines and geographies, achieving greater profitability, and establishing a pipeline of future opportunities through innovation and strategic relationships. As COO he oversees sales, marketing, and business development on a global basis. Additionally he has been a voluntary Adjunct Professor at the Berlin School of Economics & Law, educating Asian European MBA’s as future leaders in global business and society. He is an independent board director of Clean Seeds Capital Group and the Farm Journal Foundation and sits on the board of the Agricultural Retailer Association.
David T. Johnson
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Johnson has served as Chief Financial Offer of the Company since March 7, 2008. He served as Finance Director for Amcor Flexibles UK Ltd., a five hundred million dollar manufacturer of decorative packaging and a subsidiary of Amcor, a multibillion dollar corporation based in Australia from June 2003 through March 2008. Prior to that he served as Vice President of Finance for Sterer Engineering, a subsidiary of Eaton Aerospace, an eight billion dollar Cleveland based multinational company from April 2001 through June 2003. David earned his business degree from the University of Coventry in Great Britain and is certified as a Chartered Financial Accountant.
Timothy J. Donnelly
Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Donnelly recently has served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at DDi Corp. (Nasdaq: DDIC), a publicly held printed circuit board manufacturer, since June 2000. Mr. Donnelly managed a broad array of legal responsibilities including business plan and strategy development, SEC filings, M&A, Sarbanes-Oxely compliance, corporate governance issues, securities offerings and private placements, as well as negotiations with the EPA. From 1991 – 2000, he served as Assistant General Counsel at Rockwell International Corporation where he handled M&A, various licensing agreements and corporate litigation for the company. From 1986 — 1990, Mr. Donnelly was an Associate with the law firm Latham & Watkins where his responsibilities included corporate transactional work and civil litigation. Mr. Donnelly holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from John Carroll University and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Law School.
Peter Eilers
Managing Director
AMVAC Netherlands BV International
Peter joined AMVAC BV in August 2015 as Global Director of Business Development and Marketing. From January 2017 until May 2018 he executed the responsibilities of this function as VP and officer of AMVAC Corp., based in Newport Beach, California. In June 2018 he has assumed the role as Managing Director of AMVAC B.V. and AMVAC’s International business (based in Houten, Netherlands). Peter has over 25 years’ previous experience with Bayer CropScience (and its predecessors) where he served as Marketing Director for EMEA (with annual sales over €2.5 billion), Executive Head of Bayer CropScience Merger & Acquisitions/Business Development, and Country Head in various regions, including Poland, the Baltics, Iberia and Indochina, among other positions.
Peter Porpiglia, Ph.D.
Vice President, Global Product Development and Technical Support
Peter’s role in Product Development spans the US and Global organization. Prior to joining AMVAC, Peter was Head of Product Development at Arysta LifeScience, Vice President of Development at TyraTech, Vice President of R&D at Kumiai Chemical Industry, Ltd. and Head of R&D for the Herbicide Business Unit of Syngenta (formerly CIBA -GEIGY, Novartis). In prior roles, Peter has led the commercial development of over two dozen chemical active ingredients as well as several natural products in all sectors of crop protection. Peter has recently served as an executive board member of the Weed Science Society of America and the Iowa Pest Resistance Management Program representing all of the agricultural industry. Peter is active in several other scientific societies and organizations. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University as well as a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from Virginia Tech.
Anne Turnbough, Ph.D.
Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
Anne has over two decades of experience in managing regulatory compliance for a broad range of pesticides, fertilizers and adjuvants, including both chemicals and biologicals, in over 60 countries. Prior to joining AMVAC, she served as Global Director of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs for Oro Agri, Director of Regulatory Affairs for Control Solutions, Inc., and Global Regulatory Manager for Novozymes Biologicals Ltd. Anne holds both Masters and Doctorate degrees in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Missouri in St. Louis, and both a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biochemical Sciences and a Diploma in Industrial Business Management from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland. Over the course of her career, Anne has established an excellent working relationship with Global regulatory bodies including U.S. EPA, successfully obtained and defended numerous Active Ingredient, new product registrations, and built processes and teams to ensure the highest level of compliance globally.
Mason Bennett
Vice President, North American Crop
Mr. Bennett is responsible for AMVAC’s national sales strategy while also overseeing multiple regional business units and AMVAC’s U.S. key account management team and customer service team. Bennett is a 23-year veteran of U.S. agribusiness who previously served for eight years as AMVAC’s Regional Business Manager for the Southeast, where he consistently demonstrated expertise and commitment to AMVAC’s mission by successfully leading a team serving the Southwest, Mid-South, and East Coast. Upon joining AMVAC in 2016, he brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from previous sales and marketing roles with Syngenta and Dow AgroSciences. He holds a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas and an MBA, Marketing, from Arkansas State University.
Suneet Ranganath
Vice President – Global Supply Chain and President of GemChem, Inc. | AMVAC Vice President of Global Supply Chain & Operations
Vice President – Global Supply Chain and President of GemChem, Inc. – He most recently served as Strategic Sourcing Director at DuPont, where he managed procurement for both the crop protection and seed businesses. Suneet has a J.D. from Widener Law, an MBA from the University of Delaware and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. AMVAC Vice President of Global Supply Chain & Operations – Suneet joined us last May with more than 25 years of experience in operations, supply chain and technical roles in agrochemicals, specialty chemicals and plastics. In his new role, Suneet will be responsible for all procurement (whether related to manufacturing, GemChem or otherwise), strategic oversight of our manufacturing assets, make-versus-buy decisions, internal tolling activity and third-party tolling of active ingredients.
Don Gualdoni
Chief Transformation Officer
Mr. Gualdoni joined American Vanguard Corporation in late 2023 in the newly created position of Chief Transformation Officer. He brings to this assignment over 25 years’ experience in various leadership roles during which he has led several large, complex transformation projects. He joined AVD most recently from Teradata (a San Diego-based software company) and was formerly with McKinsey & Company. He holds a BSE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Andrew Naughton
Vice President of Technology
Andrew (Andy) Naughton joined AMVAC August 2022 as Vice President of Technology. Andy has over three decades’ experience in industrial chemical production having served in Fine Chemicals (Lonza), Antioxidants / Light Stabilizers (Ciba), Herbicides (BASF) and Nutritional Chemicals (DSM) on three continents. Andy has a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey as well as an MBA from Quincy University and a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Prior to joining us Andy worked as Manager of Process Engineering at EI Associates in New Jersey. Andy combines solid foundations in both Chemistry and Engineering with a passion for Process Improvement, Six Sigma Methodology, and Project Management.
Anthony Young
Director of Investor Relations
Mr. Young joined American Vanguard as Director of Investor Relations in April 2024. With 15 years of equity research, M&A, and strategic analysis, he brings valuable insights to the AVD team. Prior to joining the company, he served in key roles at American Battery Technology Company as Director of Investor Relations and Business Development. Prior to that he served as the Founder and Portfolio Manager of Edendale Capital, a long/short hedge fund focusing on automation, mobility, and clean energy. He holds an MS, Electrical Engineering, from the University of Southern California and an MBA, Finance, from the Texas McCombs School of Business.
