AMVAC’s Axis, Alabama location is hiring an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for the day shift. Qualified candidates will have hands-on experience working in a manufacturing plant in a leadership role. Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills are required.  The ideal candidate has the ability to motivate others and maintain optimal operations while complying with all company regulations. Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Maintenance department to correct malfunctions, enhance performance, and promote continuous improvement
  • Supervise maintenance personnel that investigate, diagnose, test, calibrate, install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and systems throughout the plant to ensure optimal asset utilization, safety, productivity, efficiency, and reliability
  • Coordinate, assign, and supervise all daily maintenance activities including work schedules to maintain plant production schedules; assist as necessary
  • Inspect all work for quality and thoroughness meeting required specifications
  • Interface with suppliers and OEMs to properly select equipment and quickly rectify problems
  • Assist project management staff in the installation, testing, and commissioning of capital equipment
  • Coordinate and track Preventative Maintenance schedules for all equipment
  • Track equipment and Instrumentation repairs; create purchase requisitions and maintain inventories of equipment and supplies to keep the plant running on schedule
  • Responsible for Performance Management including goal setting, reviews, and alignment for assigned employees
  • Approve maintenance department timesheets, sick time, and vacation requests in a timely manner
  • Read, interpret, and execute procedures related to all equipment and follow instructions
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • Employ and promote safe work practices in compliance with OSHA and company policy(s)
  • Identify hazards to protect all employees from hazards when installing, maintaining, or repairing equipment systems
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines instituted by the maintenance department
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required by law and company policy
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental requirements
  • Perform other assignments as necessary and directed by management.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years minimum of chemical plant maintenance experience required
  • Supervisory experience -   5+ years preferred
  • Advanced or specialized knowledge and skills to restore equipment and systems while maintaining process integrity in a complex chemical manufacturing plant
  • Requires excellent communication skills written and verbal; internally and externally
  • Extensive knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office including EXCEL
  • Math skills; expense and budgeting experience
  • Must be able to read blueprints and work from drawings
  • Comfortable working in a team environment with a track record of achieving departmental goals
  • Willing to set the example when it comes to being prompt, dependable, and attendance
  • Random drug testing and regularly scheduled blood tests
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check, physical, and other tests as required

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, vocational, or Technical degree preferred
  • A combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration
  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • IDT Training preferred
