Job Function
AMVAC is currently looking for a Buyer to work in their Purchasing Department. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials and completing MRO orders, entering the orders into the QAD (ERP) system, maintaining purchasing files, and coordinating approval of invoices with accounts payable. The Buyer / Purchasing Assistant works closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure accuracy and maintain inventory for smooth operations at AMVAC’s busiest manufacturing plant located in Axis, Alabama.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures
- Place orders (MRO and Raw Materials) with reputable suppliers based on requisitions
- Enter ‘Order and Receiving’ Reports using QAD manufacturing ERP software
- Notify departments of the expected delivery date and follow up on back orders; expedite orders when necessary
- Maintain accurate Purchase Order (P.O.) files
- Explore cost-saving opportunities in a joint effort with the Purchasing Manager
- Provide quality customer service and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal customers
- Comply with company policies for regulatory, safety & environmental requirements
- Perform other assignments as necessary or directed by management
Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of purchasing experience required; manufacturing experience preferred
- Familiarity with MRO – Maintenance, Repair, Operations – purchasing desired
- MS Word, Excel, etc., and ERP data entry required
- Customer service oriented with excellent communication skills internally and externally
- Knowledge of purchasing practices and strategy
- Basic knowledge of accounting procedures
- Computer literate with strong keyboarding skills
- QAD experience is a plus
- Team player
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug test, and other tests as required
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
